Trend, Trendy, Dated: How Styles Have Changed & What To Do
Everyone would like to avoid ending up with “dated” floors. But at the end of the day, our advice is simple: Unless your client is thinking about selling their house in the near term, they should go with what makes them happy.
Today, I want to talk about 3 words that are related: trend, trendy and dated.
They’re all related and I’ve been thinking a lot about these words lately.
First, as a professional, I’m always interested in the latest trends. Why? Because I want to know what is new and what is coming back. The more options for my clients, the better.
Second, the word trendy. Just because something is trendy doesn’t mean it’s something my clients are going to be interested in. As a matter of fact, we may approach these products with suspicion.
Lastly, there’s the scary word dated. Nobody wants to invest good money in something that might be dated in 2-5 years.
But with all those considerations, I think the important thing to keep in mind is: What is the customer really in love with? (Unless they are planning to sell their residence and concerned about the opinion of a new buyer.)
People should go with what makes them happy. It may not be trendy and it may even be dated. But if they like it, I say, why not?
