We love working with designers. Most of the time, they already have an idea of the rug size they want for a room.
But I often ask where the furniture is going to be. Where’s the bed? Couch? Where are the seating arrangements going to be?
That’s because one nice thing with carpet today is that you can get 15′ and 16’4″ widths. That eliminates a lot of the constraints caused by 12′ or 13’2″ wide carpets.
In other words, your design no longer has to be limited by the size of the carpet. Instead, the way your clients want to live will dictate the size of the rug.
So don’t be surprised if I’m out on a job or I’m talking to you on the phone and I ask, “where’s the furniture going to be?”
